Step #2 - Parts

Ok, software is good to go, now for hardware prep. Below is my powerbook next to the old powerbook I got on ebay for a size comparison

So here's the top. Ummm....I guess this was popular when these were just out. I can also flip over the paper insert to have purple stars, but this was a lot stranger, so I took a picture of this one. Then I immediately removed it and the CD drive, since I will not be needing that.
From the other frame projects I had seen, particularly this one they buy a normal sized frame, and then take the laptop completely apart and build a wooden box on the back of it for the base of the laptop. I figured there had to be a better, easier way. So I went to AC Moore for a frame, and came across a big shadow box normally for memorable objects and such, but this time, a laptop.

So, we plug in the power cord and put the power brick in the frame, and it all fits great, except for the some of the cords. So I can just drill some holes into the frame to make room for the cords. But as it turned out later, I couldn't fit the power brick in the frame, you will see later on.
Since the only good size frame AC Moore had was gold, I have to paint it, since I really don't want a gold frame. So I put on about 3 coats of black semi-gloss spray paint.

Now off to disassembly of the laptop and mounting it in the frame...
